Cathedrals On Fraser is coming alive every year as nature enthusiasts from all over share in the magical experience of whale watching on Fraser Island. Annually these giants of the ocean migrate past the Australian coast, putting up a spectacular show.
The brute power and size of these mammals of the ocean are overwhelming. Yet they remain vulnerable to the impact of humanity. It is hard not to be completely mesmerised by their appearance, always leaving the onlooker with a sense of longing to see more.
Always behave respectful towards nature. We are mere observers of the whales in their habitat and should respect it as such.
Whale watching is only one of many activities we have on our island.
Our campsite offers all the conveniences to make it feel like home. We have power, hot showers and flushing toilets, a laundry and a café — everything you might need to have an enjoyable stay in an island paradise.
Come for a convenient stay and relax in nature.
Make your online booking and escape the rushed reality of modern-day living.
Aim to travel two hours either side of low tide wherever possible. Ensure you are not driving on the beach two hours either side of high tide.
It is recommended that you reduce tyre pressure before you get to Fraser Island. This is even more important if you are towing (don’t forget to reduce your trailer/caravan tyre pressures too!) If you are an inexperienced driver or towing a trailer or caravan, we recommend taking the Mantaray barge out of Rainbow Beach to avoid the need to take an inland track. Generally, the eastern beach route will be a smoother journey. During dry weather the sand at Inskip Point can become very soft and vehicles can easily get bogged getting on and off the barge.

In an emergency, dial 000. If you don’t have mobile reception try 112. Help can be hours away, so carry a well-stocked first aid kit and medical supplies.
